National Security Letters

Unfortunately,( or not) I do not get to see all of the hearings in the
House and Senate that I would like to be able to. Fortunately, for me,
others do attend and are able to keep track of the substance of the
various hearings. Two hearings, I would have like to have seen as
reported in the August 27th issue of the American Conservative magazine

This is an issue that should transcend partisan interests. It does not matter which party is in power. Power itself needs to be checked and one of the ways to do that is to protect those brave men and women who come forward to blow the whistle on waste, fraud and abuse.

The REAL ID is basically an internal travel passport which gives the false sense of improving security while diminishing it in the process.

I gave a talk this weekend (1/26/07) at the EPIC Privacy Conference on 'national security' and civil liberty related issues. I suggested during my talk that we need to reclaim our language from the state who has used it to distort the truth, misrepresent the facts and pollute the mental environment with toxic memes...
