Whistle-Blower Week in DC

This week is Washington Whistle-blower Week (May 14th-18th). A Week of meetings, hearings, briefings, trainings, round tables and Hill visits. Many of the Liberty Coalition partners are involved in planning, coordinating and running the week of activities. We have been a co-sponsor of a few of the activities including a press and lobby training program and a summit of many of the groups, some coalition partners and others coalition friends (now or to be) to discuss whistle-blower legislations and efforts. The LC has been working close with the National Security Whistle-blower Coalition, National Whistle-blower Center, GAP, POGO, ACLU, AAPS and others on wb issues for a few years now. The protections for wb's are very important and in order to maintain our form of government, the appropriate checks and balances, protect tax payers, our national security, our liberties and many of our economic and social institutions, we need to do all that we can to push for better and more comprehensive protections. This is an issue that should transcend partisan interests. It does not matter which party is in power. Power itself needs to be checked and one of the ways to do that is to protect those brave men and women who come forward to blow the whistle on waste, fraud and abuse.
