American law is based on a secular morality designed to maximize individual liberty
Jim Turner interviews Dr. Richard Sobel, director of the Cyber Privacy Project, member of the Liberty Coalition, and amicus in Supreme Court privacy and identification cases. In the interview they discusses the Secure Flight Program -which requires for flights within the United States, in order to make a reservation, to provide his or her full name, birthdate and gender. The justification is stated that this information must be checked against Government watch lists which burden some with advanced searches and prohibits others from flying at all. This program raises the question of whether the government should be able to tell innocent people whether or not they can travel. It also raises the issue of whether or not we should need the government's permission in order to travel. Privacy and the Right to Travel are part of the numerated and unenumerated rights in our Constitution. Click to listen to interview
